Ceremony

The Wedding Mass will be held on

Wednesday, September 8th, 2010
at 2:30pm
Cathedral of Cortona
Cortona, Tuscany
Italy

Semi-Formal Attire

Cortona is the most easterly of the Tuscan hill towns. The walled town, 600 meters above sea level, is essentially unchanged in appearance since the streets and palazzi were finished in the fifteenth century. Large areas are reserved for pedestrians throughout the day making a restful though busy atmosphere. It is rich in archeological wonders from the Etruscan, Medieval, Roman, and Renaissance eras. Cortona was made famous by Frances Mayes' book, Under the Tuscan Sun, but it was put on the map by the Etruscans, who have left tombs everywhere around the hill of which Cortona was built upon.

The Cathedral of Cortona stands on the remainder of Etruscan and Medieval walls. A Romanesque parish was built on this site around 1000. Construction of the present church began in 1480 and finished in 1507.

Reception

The Reception will be held at

Villa Baroncino
Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Umbria

Villa Baroncino is an historic villa nestled amidst a pleasant hilly landscape overlooking Lake Trasimeno. The villa was originally built in the 18th century and has been beautifully restored and furnished with antiques befitting the style and history of the villa. The Villa revels amidst luxuriant gardens, lavish with the vegetation typical of the Umbria region, acres of land covered with olive groves and century-old trees, two swimming pools and spectacular 360-degree views over the lake and the surrounding countryside.

The villa is just a couple of minutes by car from Tuoro sul Trasimeno, a small borough that offers plenty of characteristic shops and typical restaurants. With a short drive, one arrives also to many important cities and towns in Tuscany and Umbria, like Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Montepulciano, Siena, and Florence.

Villa Baroncino has been rented by us from September 4th-11th and will also serve as accommodations for the wedding party. It is approximately 30 minutes away from Cortona.
